September 1993
The 1993 Lottery – the second held by HAPC – was a success in raising a profitslightly greater than the profit in 1992.
The draw took place at last year’s Gala Ball at Alexandra Palace. The winner of the first prize, a two week holiday for two to Goa, was Mrs. Felicia Saldanha. HAPC owes immense gratitude to Hayes and Jarvis Travel Agents for donating the travel arrangements, and to the five star Cidade de Goa Hotel for donating 14 nights accommodation. Mrs. Saldanha and her husband were ecstatic when they received their flight tickets at offices of Hayes and Jarvis in Hammersmith last November. The presentation was made by Mr. Paul Artizone, the Hayes and Jarvis Overseas Director.Having received their glamour prize, Mr. & Mrs. Saldanha presented HAPC with a £100.00 donation, and have pledged future donations to the Charity via a Covenant.
Special thanks are also due to Park Hotels who donated the second prize of a champagne weekend for two.
Third prize was a mountain bike, fourth prize a portable colour television, while other cash prizes claimed, totalled £215.00. All prize winners and claimants are listed on the next page including a winnings of £20.00 donated back to HAPC.
The donation of prizes plays a major contribution to the success of the lottery, and this was especially illustrated in 1993 when sales of lottery tickets generated less income than 1992. However in that earlier year all the winning prizes were paid in cash, hence highlighting the importance of the donations made by Hayes and Jarvis, the Cidade de Goa Hotel, and Park Hotels.
However HAPC is as always, grateful to the numerous helpers who make an effort to sell lottery-tickets and promote HAPC. At this time when HAPC is attempting to seek forms of fund raising other than the Gala Ball, the lottery is of great importance, and HAPC will therefore continue to rely on the dedication of sellers for their support and contribution to future lotteries.
With this in mind, HAPC is today launching its third lottery, with the draw to be made at a 1994 New Years Eve function the Harrow Leisure Centre. Our sincerest thanks are once again expressed to Hayes and Jarvis and Cidade de Goa Hotel for donating once again, flight & 14 days stay in Goa as the first prize. Other prizes include a video recorder and a 14″ colour television.
Finally thank you to all the promoters and purchasers for supporting HAPC in its past lotteries, and I am sure that you will continue all your efforts in the coming months for HAPC’s Third Lottery.
